Metal buildings in Bexar, Medina, Wilson, Atascosa, Guadalupe, Karnes and Frio counties, Texas

Three things, whatever the county's own building department does. A building project with an estimated construction cost of $50,000 or more has to be registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and go through accessibility plan review and inspection under the Texas Accessibility Standards; the law and the standards do not apply to a private residence.

Construction that disturbs one acre or more of soil and discharges stormwater to surface water in the state needs coverage under the TCEQ construction general permit: a Notice of Intent with a fee at five acres or more, a pollution prevention plan and a posted site notice from one acre to under five, and no coverage under one acre when the site is not part of a larger common plan.

And Texas licenses no home builder and no general contractor at the state level, so there is no state builder license to check before a metal building goes up. This site never calls a contractor licensed. Electricians, air conditioning contractors and plumbers hold their own separate state licenses.
